3rd Grade Styrofoam Stoppers

Congratulations to our Styrofoam Stoppers.  Not only have they helped to rid the School District of Styrofoam, they were awarded the President’s Environmental Youth Award, the only one given out for our region, and visited White House on August 16th.

Check out the EPA’s national blog about this award.Untitled

Compost has begun! 750 Lake County students, grades 3-12, are now composting daily at lunch time. Two Earth Tubs located at the Intermediate School are accepting food scraps. Thank you to School District staff, teachers, leadership and students for margin this program a success. We are composting over 100 pounds a day.

Waste Warrior Workshops in 1st-6th Grade Classrooms

During the school year, lessons are taught by High Mountain Institute (HMI) student-teachers, who are in turn mentored by C4 and HMI staff. Lessons are designed for each grade and linked to state science standards.

Our mission is to inspire stewardship of our natural resources by creating educational opportunities and lasting community infrastructure in Leadville and Lake County, Colorado.
