Job Description:
The Cloud City Farm is a community farm in Leadville that grow vegetables for sale in the community, and manages community garden plots. Farm Interns will work closely with our Farm Manager in all aspects of the business.
Position Details
- Reports to Cloud City Farm Manager
- Location: 440 McWethy Dr., Leadville, CO.
- 20 hours per week to be scheduled with the Farm Manager, not to be distributed over more than four days per week.
What will Interns Do?Cloud City Farm will allow students to gain experience as farmers, volunteer managers, and entrepreneurs through a sustainable food operation that directly benefits our community. Students will help coordinate all garden and food-related projects including production, produce sales, marketing, and outreach. Cloud City Farm Interns will contribute to food production activities including sowing seeds, irrigating, weeding, composting, harvesting, processing, and marketing.
What will Interns Learn?Farm interns will gain a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience in food policy, production, and education. Each week of work will begin with 2 hours of training by our Farm Manager in a different area of local food production. Our Farm Manager is Lani Meyer, she holds a master’s degree in Horticulture with an emphasis in Urban Farming, and has many years’ experience working in commercial farming operations.
Application Process: Student selections for the internships will take place in early May and may include an interview. Once selected, Cloud City interns will be asked to begin June 5th.
