Kendra Kurihara, Executive Director

Kendra has been teaching, gardening, and adventuring in Leadville since 1993 when she arrived for an internship at the Colorado Outward Bound School. She received her master’s degree from Regis University in Nonprofit Management and her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Fine Arts. Her previous work in Lake County includes the Outdoor Leadership Program at Full Circle, Program Director at Outward Bound, and Business Manager at Melanzana, a local clothing manufacturer. The Partnership for Lake County Recreation, Recreation Advisory Board, and C4 are among the many groups she has volunteered for and served as a board member. Kendra believes that being a good steward of our environment goes hand-in-hand with improving the quality of life for the people living there, and that there is nothing more beautiful than a head of cabbage ready for harvest in the garden.

Current programs with C4 include: recycling, compost, green schools, household hazardous waste, zero waste events, event recycling, community education and outreach, Cloud City Farm.

Lani Meyer, Farm Manager

Originally from the neighboring state of Kansas, Lani adventured off to Colorado to explore food production in the mountains. After completing her B.S. in Horticulture Science from Kansas State University, she worked about 6 years as an environmental, agricultural, and nutrition educator in North Georgia and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Eventually she found herself back at Kansas State researching tomato grafting for high tunnel production and completing her M.S. in Horticulture emphasizing in Urban Food Systems. Though a huge challenge among us, Lani’s passion revolves around sustainable food production and finding a balance between the natural world and society’s needs. She is over joyed to be a part of C4 as it combines her love for food production, community education, and environmental protection. If you come to visit the farm, you’ll most likely be greeted by her loud but loving blue heeler, Lili, aka doorbell and vole patroller.Current programs include:  Cloud City Farm.
